The Course

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008

I have been studying The Course for awhile and every once in awhile I get it another level. The Course makes it clear they we created this world through the ego. Although I believe that God is the Creator of all that is true, real and infinite, man is the co-creator. This is made clear in Genesis. We are with God, in God and of God. I believe the myth of the fall in scripture missed a beat. I believe man decided to leave The Kingdom for “wisdom”. I liken the fall of man to the story of the fall of Satan by Milton. Somewhere along the way man decided to leave the heart of God and create this world. God is mystery as is life thus we can’t know all things about creation or the fall.

This world is finite and created by ego. We also have created a God for this world. This God thinks more like man than Spirit. The real God could never push us away or damn us to hell. The real God or Son of God could never send a person to hell for something as silly as not believing. God is PURE LOVE and any teaching that is opposite of that idea is from man and not God.

History proves that man is unchangeable and desperate. He is violent, hateful and base. No matter what level of technology we arrive at we are still vial. Without the Spirit we fall short every single time.

Having said that, does this mean we are not responsbile to rise above? The answer is NO! We are called to make a choice. All are called few are chosen. What that really means is few take the call. I don’t believe that man as a group conciousness will ever change. Like I said, history just repeats. Those of us who rise up though do so because we understand this world is not real. We understand that God is leading our way and our demise is only a decision away. Once we realize it is a daily choice to come up higher, regardless if the world changes, we have come home. If we think we are here to save or change the world, we are still in ego thought. Jesus already saved the world and said
“it is done and finished.” You either believe that or you don’t. This is why such traditions of not eating meat on Wednesday or Friday or flogging oneself make no sense to me. These traditions clearly show one does not understand the teaching, meaning or death of Christ.

According to The Course, there is nothing to save because there is nothing here. We are called to love, forgive and have compassion. It sometimes seems this message means we can do whatever and be careless in our actions. Nothing could be more contrary. We choose to live Heaven on Earth through the guidance of the real Father not the one created by ego. It is not ours to judge or condemn. We are called to come up higher and the more we choose to do so the quicker we will get home.

Elizabeth, the movie 1998

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

I am reviewing The movie Elizabeth. I give 3 dog ’s. This movie is from 1998. The movie is violent for me mostly because the church is responsible for much of these crimes. This movie fits right in with what is going on with Preacher Wright and his hateful speech on the pulpit for God. War, what is it good for? It should be religion, what is it good for?!

Cate Blanchett, Geoffrey Rush, Joe Finnes are main characters. I love Cate and think she is the bomb. As usual, she puts in a great performance as does Geoffrey and Joe. The movie itself is confusing though. I think the script was in need. The violence promoted by The Catholic Church is staggering! Here is this vatican of men who are suppose to be leaders for God. Instead, they are steeped in politics and have priests running around killing people. The vivid detail of torture, heads hanging on staffs and bloody massacre are well shown. Also, we see how primitive humanity is at this point, have we really changed? They are lead by basic 1st chakra tribal and physical instinct.
Queen Mary puts in an incredible performance although very small in the beginning of the movie. She is despicable and no leader of the people.

We watch the rise of Elizabeth from a woman who is lead by her heart and men to one of strength, conviction and forsaking 1st chakra desire. She is bullied at the beginning of her reign to marry. They are convinced this is the only way she can keep England from sinking. We see bits of her character and strength when she convinces the majority of Bishops to become The Church of England instead of loyal to Rome. Slowly, she becomes the true leader that England is desperate for. After her contemplation in front of Virgin Mary she realizes what she must do. She becomes the Virgin Queen for her people. In essence, she forsakes her heart and wants for the saving of England. My favorite part of the movie is at the end. She comes out to her subjects with white face and hair cut. She looks at Lord Barron, who had dogged her to marry while he was her advisor and says, Lord Barron I am married now, married to England! Her heart is broken by her lover and the tyranny of her heritics. She then goes on to reign for 40 years the best England has known. The movie the Golden Age covers this time period and I have it in my netfilx que.
It is a good movie with incredible visuals although a bit choppy and hard to follow. Until next time,

Obama, his preacher and bigotry

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

I am not sure which is worse the hateful tone and speech we have seen Obama’s Reverend Dr. Jeremiah Wright give to his congregation or Obama’s claimed ignorance of his spiritual leaders beliefs?

Reverend Wright has chosen to use the house of God to propagate defamatory statements and images about his country, its leaders and yes whites. This man could not possibly understand the teachings of Christ because Christ tells us we must forgive 70 x 7. He never taught 2 wrongs make a right or bigotry is the answer. If our leaders in the church can’t show us how to come up higher, we are doomed. It is one thing for lay people to believe this type of diatribe but for a man of the cloth to spew such hatred and violent accusations is appalling!

Obama went to this church for 20 years and had his children baptized there. I don’t believe he was unaware of this man’s ideology. The Reverend’s hatred bleeds through his sweat. We must question is this Obama’s true belief about America, its leaders and yes the white population? We must also question the meaning behind his wife’s, Michelle, statments after voting commenced that she was finally proud of America. Is she in agreement with her Reverend’s view of this country and its mixed populace? Obama wants to be President of the United States and attends a church that preaches contempt for its country and the people in it. To my understanding, both Obama and Michelle have lived privileged lives so why the dissent and bitterness? Something doesn’t fit in this equation and people need to research this instead of being lead like a bunch of lemmings.

Reverend Wright seems to incite such division between black and white. In his church, the congregation seems to revel in it. It seems they embrace bigotry and hatred. Martin Luther King would be devastated by such malice. The black community, in this case, seems much more comfortable believing they stand on an island alone. No one could possibly understand the crosses they have had carried as a people. Of course, that is utter nonesense. We all have crosses to bare and are more alike then distant. Blacks are not the only people that have a history to over come. Until we unite as Americans we can never move forward.

A black man is running for President and one of the richest women in the world is black. It is time for a new consciousness in this community. Black bigotry towards whites is just as bad as white bigorty towards black. Has this community convinced itself some how it is different? At this point in history, the black community is responsible for its position in American society. This community is as much a part of America as all present generations from immigrants. Yes, slavery is an atrocity and a blemish on this country as is the holocust for Europe. If we go back through history, humanity is full of heinousness crimes towards itself. The french revolution and the crusades come to mind. We live in a fallen world and humanity can be as dark as it can be light. What makes a person great is overcoming his/her obstacle and raising up those surronding you. Bigotry, hate speech and separation devalue us as a people and bring out the darkness of humanity. When we find this thought system being encouraged by a spiritual leader, it is truly a day of sorrow.

Do we ever really change?

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008

Can one truly change or is it always a work in progress? Is it learned behavior or genetics? Either way, does it even matter? How much can one peel the onion to get to the core? The more damage one has the more peeling needed. At some point, doesn’t the peeler break?

It seems that over and over we face the same situations or people. Are we all self sabatoging or is this the rote of life? Are we each set on a course to learn specific things in this life time and it will keep showing up until we get it? Or, is this life just so long it becomes monotonous and repetitive?
