Free Speech, Media and Politics

Saturday, July 28th, 2007

I believe in and support Free Speech and Free thought. That is what makes our country so great! It is concerning to me the left liberals attack on radio and TV shows they don’t like. It is also concerning to me when some one like Kennedy Jr. says you are a heretic if you don’t believe in Global Warming. I don’t like big government and I certainly don’t like being told what I can think, believe or watch on TV.

For decades, the media has been leaning to the left. It is only when the right started getting air time that anything became a problem. When the left had a monopoly on the news, there were no tantrums. The minute the right started getting air time, and more importantly, larger viewership the left started whining. The whine turned into a tantrum and now a full blown witch hunt.

All news channels have a bias whether it be CNN, CBS, or Fox. Their problem is with Fox and more importantly The Factor. This can only be because it carries a large audience. We are based on free commerce in this society. I can turn on or off any show I want. If I want to invest my time watching Fox, where is the problem?

The liberal left wants advertisers to stop advertising on Fox. This is ridicolous and a waste of everyone’s time. Instead of investing all this time trying to break an opposing point of view, why not come up with some new ideas and solutions? Well, that requires brains and creativity. So, is the liberal left lacking in that catergory. Fox has huge ratings which implies a lot of Americans as well as those from other countries tune into Fox. Does the liberal left want to silence the American people because that is what it seems like to me. Are we only to have one ideology and let me guess it is to be the liberal lefts.

One can only bash others for so long before others see the smoke screen for what it really is. Your tactic is to drive the opposition under ground so no one will figure out you have no ideas, no tolerance for other points of views and lack knowldge to create something new and fresh on your own.

No where has this played out more then in the recent alarmist approach and ideas of Global Warming. It is hysterical and hysteria works. Let’s not forget the witch hunt of the 1600’s! They say if you don’t agree with their stats then you are a heretic. Wasn’t the left aghast when people accused them of being heretics for not supporting President Bush and the war? Didn’t they say they were Americans and had every right to their beliefs and ideas?

Let’s get this straight. There are no heretics. We are allowed free thought in this country and we are allowed to voice it! It takes all of us to come up with solutions. Haven’t we spent enough time pointing the finger at the other side. I know a lot of us on both sides of the isle are sick of it. We want leaders that care about it’s people and this country more then their egos or polls. Stop these ridicolous witch hunts and start doing your job. In a word, GROW UP!

Blending my Understanding

Thursday, July 26th, 2007

I notice that when I am starting to understand a concept on a deeper level I go through a time of process. Thus, the transition. I am understanding the concepts of The Course better and at the same time questioning some of the validity to my own beliefs and faith.

I think when we study a practice or philosophy it is important to question if it feels right in our Spirit. This applies to all Spiritual practices. It is OK and important to question our studies and blend our beliefs in how God is leading us. Although all separation or sin comes from the same place of void, it can show up differently in people. One might be an addict and one might be an adulterer. In answer to our prayers for healing, God may lead me to do something different then someone else.

God is the same today as always. He is not a respector of persons. If He has done it for one, His Word says He will do it for all. The important piece here is our walk with God and our ability to hear His still small voice. In and of ourselves, both The Bible and The Course agree, we will make a mess of it. If we lean into The Christ, Holy Spirit and God head, we will do all things and more.

The Course teaches the belief that God can not see this world. I have struggled with this premise for quite a while and have finally decided I can not commit to that idea. Thus, the transition must end. I love The Course and The Bible and I will continue to study both. My destiny is a relationship with God and my study continues to lead me in that direction. I continue to understand the teachings of The Course and the thought system of Metaphysics. I apply them to my experience and knowldge of God. I think we all must find our convictions and stand fast on that foundation.

Faith

Wednesday, July 18th, 2007

Faith demands that we believe without seeing. That is hard for most of us since we are conditioned to believe in our 5 senses. We are especially dependent on our visual sight. As we start to study our Spiritual path and walk more closely with God, we start to understand the sight needed is of a different nature than that from one’s eye.

When we are in situations that are suppose to have a certain outcome, we get mad or irritated if it doesn’t work out that way. When we start to look at the situations we are in with a different perspective, we don’t get so bothered if the script changes.

My son had surgery yesterday and my daughter was suppose to as well. His turned out much more extensive and longer then we thought. Not only was it a very stressful day for us his parents but my daughter’s surgery got bumped. She was prepped and had gotten herself all ready for the procedure. Then, they told us she would have to reshedule! Of course, she was more then disappointed! Even though I totally understood her dismay and it was ok to cry, I also knew that God could see the big picture. For whatever reason, she was not suppose to have the surgery yesterday. I have to trust in the bigger picture then what my plans were. If I choose to see the world through that scope, it sure will alleviate lots of stress and anger over things that don’t go my way. Sure, it is easier sometimes to do then others but I have to keep reminding myself that God and the Universe have my back! It is so much better to trust in that then what my ego had planned for the day. Faith is a great thing to have. It is a gift that we all can cultivate through prayer and practice.
